Shelley Wildeman is an exhibiting photographer living in Toronto. Her subject
matter consists primarily of bold, slightly surreal landscapes and cityscapes
with a human presence. Themes of memory, passing of time, nostalgia and
observations on how people occupy public space are the basis of her artistic
production. Largely self taught in photography, she was educated as a graphic
designer and brings this graphic sense to her art practice in strong lines and
bold compositions.
She has been a member of Gallery 44
Centre for Contemporary Photography, a non-profit artist-run centre, since
2003. Wildeman's work has been exhibited in Canada and the U.S. and acquired by
a number of private collections in Canada.
