South Beach, Miami is possibly one of the more photographed beaches in the world. When I began this series, I was interested in recording the individually deco-designed lifeguard stations that dot the beach. This evolved into beachscapes where each station is but one feature on the beach, standing as silent witnesses to various activities around it. It lead me to notice many layers of viewing: the lifeguard stations, people on the beach, seabirds, myself as the photographer, and you as the viewer of these photos. We are all watching.
