Series title: Compressed History
For years, my work was outward, and documented the movement and vitality of public spaces. This new work has turned inward, exploring how a scanner could be used to create intimate spaces with their own vitality. Themes of memory, nostalgia and the passage of time are present for me, as always.
Taken out of context, the flowers here reveal their intrinsic beauty. The enshrouding fabric disconnects them from their typical setting, and creates a series of individual and intimate portraits—where the flowers seem to illuminate the space around them.
This work was inspired by and begun during the lockdown days of the pandemic—when, we too were each in our own compressed space.
